Paul Sherman was elected by the Board of Trustees to be the new Chairman of Lathom Park Trust late last year. Paul has a wealth of knowledge on he archaeology of Lathom Park and Lathom District. He is a founder and Director of North West Heritage CIC and a volunteer crew member and Trustee of he Southport Offshore Lifeboat.
Paul will work towards advancing the curren projects underaken by he Trust with expert guidance and knowledge.

Scheduled Monument Status for Roman Fort, Lathom, Burscough Nr Ormskirk
The attached link will take you to the Historic England listing for the Roman Fort site in West Lancashire. The Trust funded a number of surveys and field walks on the site around 15 years ago after looking at earlier documented evidence of Roman activity on the fields there.

It is with great sadness that The Trustees heard of the sudden passing of our long serving Trustee Mr Kenneth Vincent at the age of 87. Kenneth was passionate about the history of Lathom and he shared some wonderful memories of Lathom with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time. He will be a great loss to many.

NEW PROJECT ‘A Life In Service’

We are pleased to announce that Lathom Park Trust is undertaking a new research-based project. Entitled 'A Life In Service' the project will focus on the staff of Lathom House over the period 1725-1925.
We will be researching the lives of the staff members, their families and their stories with a view to publishing the material in various formats over the coming years.

In 1998, the history of Lathom was – and had been for centuries, surrounded by myths, folklore and academic argument.
Work involving archaeologists, researchers, historians and our own members since Lathom Park Trust was informally set up in 1998 before its formal launch in 2000, has gone some way to discovering the real truths.

Latham Spa Roughs Survey
Lathom Park Trust has finished for this season at least a survey of Spa Roughs, on the edge of Lathom Park.
